I recently bought my first pair of designer trainers from the Valentino outlet at Bicester Village. I want to make sure I take care of them and that they stay looking pristine for as long as possible – especially with them being ALL white. I did some research into different products I could use to protect them – Liquiproof is a brand that I kept coming across, and it’s had some really great reviews.
I’d heard a lot about Crep Protect, but the more research I did it became apparent that this was more suited to materials like suede, nubuck, mesh and flyknit. Because my Valentino Garavani trainers are all leather, I decided to keep searching.
I was in the town centre one day and walked by END. They are known for their footwear so I thought I’d pop in and ask what they had. The sales assistant was quick to recommend Liquiproof – she mentioned that it had been on the tv show Dragon’s Den, and said she has used it herself and it is amazing. So I thought I’d give it a go.
The instructions on the bottle are really simple and easy to follow.
Step 1: Ensure the surface is clean.
Step 2: When you’re ready, spray evenly over the entire surface from a distance of 10-15cm until the surface of your footwear is damp.
Step 3: Rub the coating into the fibres using a clean, soft brush.
Step 4: Leave for 10 minutes then repeat steps 2-3.
Step 5: Leave to air dry for 24 hours.
And that’s it! The Liquiproof spray created an invisible barrier, meaning my Valentino trainers will now be protected from rain, stains and spills.
